A Torvaldr Update

I have finally finished the very physical repairs that were needed to be completed to meet the terms on the mortgage on my house. The repairs that are left to do are all interior painting, and much easier on my body. I have even been able to back off a bit on my pain meds. The physical stresses from the move, and exterior repairs to the house wreaked havoc on me and made it even more difficult to work on armor. But I have already made significant progress and my drying rack is completely full of armor. As you have seen from a couple of my posts of armor for sale I have completely a number of pieces that people then canceled on me. Aside from the money, I ended wasting my time completing orders that people no longer wanted instead of being able to finish other pieces.
But that aside the point of this post to reassure people that I am alive, mostly well, getting more settled in the new house every day, and working like mad in the shop. If you have an order you want an update on as always you can contact me at

I received my layered bazubands a while back from Thorvaldr. They were perhaps a tad late (like a week or two), which he had communicated to me. I countered with bungling the payment up so it was late.
However, what I wish to state: Thorvaldr took my measurements at Pennsic. As I received the armor my first thought was "Hmm...", my second thought was "Hmmm....these probably wont work, they are to small". I decided to go ahead and try them at a practice before I contacted Thorvaldr. I was proven wrong. Except for some extremely minor fiddling (two minutes tops) with the very front part based on how
I prefer to wear my armor, they fit like a dream. Solid, elegant, safe. I felt they covered my elbows very well, covered my forearms well, and were of no hindrance in my fighting.
If you are on his waiting list, it is definitely worth the wait!

Glad to hear that the hard stuff is done on the house, friend.
I have to say, Torvaldr isn't always the quickest on turnaround, but he keeps his word on getting your stuff to ya. And in my mind, every piece I've gotten from him has been worth the wait. And if you just ask, he will give you an update on your stuff, and do a lot to accommodate any deadlines you might have as far as needing gear for a particular event down the road.

He made me a pollaxe with clacker back in 2005 that is still seeing good service to this day in Japan. It was great fun to play with and I noticed one of my Avalon friends really enjoying using the pollaxe. So I gave it to him as a gift when we moved, and it's happy hitting people even seven years later.
If I didn't have six other pollaxes on order from two different makers, I'd order another pair of pollaxes from Torvaldr if he would consider making them.
The pollaxe was for West Crown Touranment, and Torvaldr delivered it from his hand to my hand at the touranment. That made me smile a lot.
With thanks,
-Aaron

Thank you guys for the comments and compliments. Let me expand a bit on Wenzel's comment. If you have a hard date deadline you need armor by be sure to let me know as soon as possible. Do not wait until just a few days before that event. Bear in mine if nothing else it can take 3 to 5 days of shipping time depending on how close you live to me. As always I do what I can to make things right by someone if I get too far behind or mess up an order.

Yep, I kind of assumed people being reasonable in their expectations, while in some cases they are not.

Just to reassure people that I am actually working as hard as I say I am here is a picture of my drying rack completely full. I know it is hard to see this if yours is not one of the orders there, but I hope you can be reassured by the fact that I am getting so much done.

You might want to invest in another rack, there is just no room to expand.
I'm not sure if it would help listing orders in que and progress. Now you just need to start your in stock pile for the season. For me seeing names drop off the que and feadback helps me stay motavated.

I am planning on another rack and need more sheet pans. I need to find a good used restaurant equipment store here abouts. there were two up where I used to live, but that is a bit farther than I want to drive. I am trying to get more organized. Of course I am always trying to get more organized.

OK, it might just be me...but that looks like a rack of body parts ready to splice onto people.
