Heh, that mannequin's nothing compared to some of the hotties he's got showing off his wares! The one holding the crystal ball in particular...smokin hot.

Nice armor, by the way, Andy- very nice.

Pitbull, you are a very talented metalworker. You've also been receptive to constructive criticism and have used it to visibly improve your work. As a woman, may I suggest that your efforts at female "armor" would be much improved if you studied how armor fits and moves with an actual female body, not a mannequin?

This is a link to the armor gallery of Black Diamond Metal Arts:
http://www.blackdiamondmetalarts.com/arm.html

There are photos in there of armor custom-made for some very pretty female jousters. Note that their armor is made for fit, flexibility, and protection.

If you want to make "off-the-rack" female armor (or armor-inspired steel fantasy corsets), adjustability to fit different body types and proportions is even more important.

For functional, adjustable female armor, don't think of rigid, uncomfortable breast cups. Think about giving the front of a cuirass an overall convex shape like historical examples, or at least give two gently rounded shapes for the bust.

Hi there, thanks for the good words and interest, I do agree mannequins are usually not the shape of normal women, and certainly dont move like real women, But I didnt make this breastplate.

I looked at the link you posted and saw some ladies in an articulated animae cuirass. The flexibility looks great. I could make one of those, but the truth is.... I dont want to, women can wear globose breastplates, and other solid armor just like men do.

The armor you posted pics of is wellmade, flexible, and nice looking, Its just not the only way things can be done for ladies, and its not what I feel like building normally. I hope all this didnt come across abrasive, Its not what I was aiming for.

Take care

My apologies, Pitbull. I was under the assumption that *you* had made the breastplate that was for sale; that's why I was trying to offer some constructive criticism (and suggest some reasons why the piece might be hard to sell).

I'm relieved to hear that you have the right idea about how armor has to fit and move on either men or women. I didn't mean to suggest that the anime cuirass which I linked was the only type of armor that could fit women, just that it was one of my favorite examples of well-fitted, well-designed late-period armor.

I'm not trying to tell you what style of armor to build; as long as it fits, moves, and functions, it's fine. I agree with you entirely that many historical styles of armor work well for women, especially if the styles are convex, like a globose breastplate.

Hi, no apologies needed, No worries at all, I should have mentioned I didnt make this BP I had just bought it on here 2 weeks ago and didnt think about it. It was made by Larveraque (sp?) here on the aa. Ill dig up the thread. It was his first piece of armor made many years ago.

Now that Im looking more at those Animae BPs on those ladies, I find myself wanting to build one more and more, Hard to argue with plate protection and great flexibility. Thanks for the inspirations.

Have a good week
