Ebay Coat of Plates--Non paying bidder

Post by atliravensson »

Hi again everyone. I just filed a non-paying bidder alert on Ebay. It seems that the person who won the auction was unable to pay despite promising me that I would see payment soon. Needless to say I am offering the CoP for sale to anyone who can match the high bid of $150 plus 15 bucks shipping (US). If interested email me at Jasonandgretchen@yahoo.com . Pictures can be seen here.

Thanks

His ID wasn't Warwolf84 was it? I have had it with non-paying bidders. I now have zero tolerance and I will start adding on my auctions that payment is due within 5 days or sorry about your luck. It is silly that we have to get this stupid.

Hello Atliravensson,

Did the guy say if he was paying using Paypal or a money order? Either way, your expectations as to how quickly people has a tendency to pay maybe a little off. (no disrespect intended)

I used to run a business selling stuff on ebay and I've had my share of non payers, but what I've found is that most of my payments arrived between 1-3 weeks after the end of the auction.

Some of the delays were legit, like the time it takes to get a Money Order...yes they probably could get it right away, but most don't make a special trip to go to the bank. The other problem I've seen with PP is that people want to put the money into their PP account first prior to making a payment. This by itself can take a couple of weeks due to mailing time.

I hope things work out for you, but as long as your still getting communication from the guy, I would give him a couple of more days.

Just my 2 cents,

I understand your point completely. I had two email correspondences with this guy. His first said he would have the money shortly. I waited 4-5 days and then I sent another email (I was completely polite and still am). His response to this one was that I would have payment on Fri or Sat. I waited until Saturday night--10 days after auction close--before I filed a non-paying bidder alert per Ebay policy.

I understand that sometimes people dont have the money right that second or it takes a little while to get the money out but if he had simply explained that or even responded to the non-paying bidder alert I would be a little more tolerant.

I do see your point like I said and being that I havent sold the item, if the guy contacted me today and said he sent payment, he would still get the CoP.

I went and looked at the bidding history - It appears this guy was bidding to see where Abaddon's high bid was.

I would agree - sell it to Abaddon.

Well....luckily for Atliravensson, the non-payer paid. All's well that ends well and screws me out of this CoP!
Can't catch a break lately, it seems.
