Hey all
I got positive feedback overall on my 12 gauge 5052 shields, so I've decided to try something new. I got a phonecall from the local supplier today that my 4X8 sheet of 6061 12 gauge aluminum is in, and I can go pick it up Tuesday. This is a tougher alloy, and the standard stuff SCA aluminum shields are made of.
Just to keep thing simple on this sheet, I'm planning on making two 30" rounds, and two 28" rounds. Price will be $40, shipping will be about $12 in the US, less in Canada. The price has gone up, but this alloy is more expensive, and the shields are bigger.
I think one of the 30" rounds is spoken for locally, I will find out soon via email. Email me or post here if you are interested. Thanks!

6061 T6 works very well, but I have always used 16 gauge. Why go with the extra cost and weight of 12 gauge? I have also found that the cost of 7075 T6 16 gauge is occasionally lower than 6061 or 6062 and at least in the Texas area is usually in stock. At least on paper, 7075 has superior mechanical qualities to the 60 series alloys.
