Looking for a shield boss- exacting specifications

Post by Brodir »

looking for a hemispherical boss, 5" across the bowl, with a 1/2" flange. 16 or 17 gauge mild steel. I need the flange punched with six holes. Email or post, thanks greatly in advance.

I can't really help you out with this but you should also add a depth requirement and what kind of finish you want.

Matt I think that by hemispherical boss Brodir means a half sphere so 2.5" depth.

Sorry can't help either. Image

hi antoinette

I have ten for estrella waiting to have the rims pressed on(my press exploded and I just fixed it)

the one mentioned is a reject because it is too deep. however It is available.

if you havent seen one pics of bosses are here: http://tiarmour.com/price%20list%20stainless%20shield%20boss.htm they all come out alike. well except rejects from time to time.

as you are local would you like me to bring one to weds practice or ursalmas?

I would love to see them, both the normal style and the "reject". We can be at Wed night fighters practice, this week. Please let me know what times you are normally there between, and we will be there.

Hey, get a room you two Image

Thanks for the offer mrks, but I definetly need something in mild steel, it's not for the SCA.

Padrig is correct, I need it about 2.5" deep. Would appreciate any help, thanks again.

What is it being used for?

16-17 ga is rather light for combat but then you said not for sca use. I have some Kydex around still that is easy to make damn near bullet prof shield bosses out of. but if its not painted it looks like black plastic. It is great for light weight but super strong stuff. would somthing like that be helpful?

Adric- it's going to be for re-enactment, they have authenticity standards & kit checks, so kydex would most definetly be out. Thanks for the offer though.
