For Sale: Rattan Arming Dagger of Shankery!! SOLD!

Post by Dietrich von Stroheim »

Do you remember the last time you said to yourself in battle, 'Self, I wish I HADN'T brought that backup dagger with me!' ??

Yeah, me neither! :-)

I have for sale a cross-hilted rattan arming dagger, just under 16 inches in total length. Long enough to snake its way in between a foe's sword and shield and find its way to his grill, this fine dagger has an interesting grip: round on the part that rests against your palm, and flat where your fingers grip, that I think makes for a very comfortable hilt!

It is quick and agile in the hand, but stout enough to deliver a hard blow as well.

Behold how it is fitted with a crimson thrusting tip, so you will not need to wipe off the blood from your kills!

The sheer joy of drawing this dagger and spiking someone in the grill when he rushes in on you is easily worth the price of $25!!

Now, for some pictures! :D

And, here a a couple glowing reviews from satisfied customers!

So you can buy with confidence, knowing you will be getting a well-balanced and functional fighting dagger...and when you get charged, or pressed up against the enemy shieldwall, or countless other situations, you will be glad you have it tucked in your belt or your sheathe! :D

Buyer pays shipping, and I do accept paypal.

Make this dagger yours today, for many years of fell deeds to come! :D

This arming dagger comes with a special one-time offer: if you find me at a war or event and tell me a story about something badass you did with this dagger, I will buy you a beer, even if you made the story up!

Is there anything you can tell us about the construction or other details of the dagger that justifies the price?

Indeed! Well, sort of. The construction is probably exactly as you'd imagine.

The price is what it is because every other rattan dagger I've offered has sold for that price.

To me, that is a clear market sign that the value of a well-balanced and functional ready-made rattan dagger is $25.

That said, market conditions change. If it turned out that the demand was no longer there at that price point, that's fine, these daggers make great largesse gifts.

What's the construction on the crossguard? I'm curious, but I didn't see it listed anywhere (may have missed it)

Ok changed my mind. I'll take it. Pm me the particulars please. I am also interested in the cross-guard construction.
Thanks,
Uls

Uilliam, just sent you a PM with payment details!

Regarding the crossguard, I tried several different methods when I first started making daggers, and ultimately settled with heater hose sandwiched around the hilt, secured in place with crossing ropes of strapping tape, and rolled with strapping-tape-rope very tightly all along the sandwiched quillions.

This makes for a well-balanced dagger with a good shape, that will not break your coccyx if you fall on it during a melee!

Plus, the crosspiece is stiff enough that it will hold its shape and can pick up a sword blow, and lets it hang without falling out, from one of the speed-draw holsters I like to use for my dagger.

Sure thing. Here is a picture Ursus took at War of the Wings...

I'm the one on the left delivering the Zwerchau shot.

The dagger holster itself is a ring of metal secured perpendicular to a leather belt-hanger (you can make one fairly easily or buy a tool holster at Home Depot and tinker with it a little). I've tried many different arrangements and this is the best, most efficient dagger-deployer I have used!
