I would like to find a viking helm with brass oculars and etching. Hopefully I won't have to wait about two years to get one.

This helm is for SCA heavy fighting. I am looking to spend dependant upon what I see 200-400 dollars. I have seen some really beautiful ones starting at $200 plus the brass work. And then I have seen some really ugly ones for even more. So I am looking somewhere within that range.
Waldryk has a nice spangen helm and I like it, but the viking helm I didn't care much for.
The one on Raymond's Quiet Press looking at the helm nasal page under the Pre-Viking. But the bar grill kind of makes me think of a football helmet. But don't get me wrong I love the way the coculars and nasal look.
White Mountain I think has the greatest helm I have ever seen. It is the one for $585. The conical spangen helm with oculars and camail. I have always been in love with that helm. Ever since the first time I ever saw it. But sadly he isn't taking commissions.

Sebastian,
Thanks for the link. But yes I have seen Lonely Mountain also. I don't care much for the Vendel Style helms or the ones with the faces on them.

I completly agree. It looks great. I might have to try and make that after I finish my leg harness. Caleb Johnson

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2912733038&category=19255Not mine, but I'd "Buy It Now" if I were looking, aside from the fact that I hate bars attached to the outside of a helm it's quite nice.

Would that bar in the eyeslots be right in one's line of sight?

I run vertical bars in mine, and they are mounted inside or the face plate.
I usually don't etch the eybrows, etc,I line engrave them with a chisel
And yes a vertical bar right in the line of vision, running through the middle of an occlar, that I don't like to do.
I think it's kind of a silly short cut and as I have mentioned previously, have had more than one guy in for en expensive rebuild when armorers have pulled that sort of thing in the past with other local fighters who have bought from them.
One of these with a band running around the bottom skull rim,and one up and over the skull center line, front to back,in stainless goes for about $375..I don't have pics right now but can supply a line drawing.
I expect to be through current back orders by the end of the month.
Regards Sven

I actually have one of these Dragon Forge viking helms. And eventhough I like it a lot, since I have been in Bahrain, it got rusty. I wanted something in stainless. Mine is in 14 gauge mild. But it seemed like only 16 because it dented kind of easy.
I don't have a problem with the bar inside the ocular. It has been a really nice helm. And I have been really happy with it in the last year. But I have always had a love of the one from White Mountain.
I would like to see a drawing of what you can do with the etching and in a viking helm.
Could you please send me a picture or line drawing to the below address.

Just figured I would bump myself just for bumping sake. And so I can see the little bump sign.

Come on people help me out with some ideas for a really nice viking helm. It isn't all that often that my lady wants to buy me something for coming home from the Middle East.
Well that and she wants my current viking helm to do combat archery in.

I guess I will just have to bump my own post again. Just to make sure it didn't fall off to the next page and no one ever sees it again.

I may have something available, its a brandnew conical stainless spangen that is being returned to me because it did not fit.
Kind of a bummer, but hey its my first return of this nature, the customers loves the helm and says its "beautiful" but feels it needs to be slightly larger.
If you are interested send me an e-mail and we can get some measurements and see if it will fit you.
Its prettymuch the same as H-11 on my helmet page

I actually have a fairly small helm size. Like a 20" circumfrance at the forhead. It is about 8 inches from the tip of my nose to the back of my head and then it is only about 10-13 inches from the top of my head to an inch below my chin. I will have to take new measurements. But may have to wait until I get back to the world to take new measurements. I wish I had the paper here that had that had the measurements, from my other helm.
But I will have to see. Thank you though for thinking of me Adam.

Gee, I thought I might have a line on a nice stainless helm but then it was much too big for me.

The helm I am looking for is the H-21 from Adam at White Mountain. I originally wanted one of the H-19s but he has already said he won't be doing anymore of the H-19s. I will be willing to wait for him to feel better.
I have a really small cranium I mean I wear a size 7 hat. But I really really like the brass and the oculars on the H-21.

Sorry, I should have been more clear - or waited until I had more tea. I sent an e-mail to WMA regarding the helm. Please accept my apologies for the confusion
