XLarge Melon in search of Helm

Post by UlrichVonDanzig »

Wanted: A helm for my 25" head.

Looking to see if anyone has anything they are looking to sell that would fit. Just recently joined the SCA and looking to participate/practice in heavy combat.

No particular style necessary at this time, just something that will fit and protect.

I, too, have a Melone Grande (at 25 1/4").

SCA Armour/For Sale on Facebook had something that might fit you: https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/394380073955553/

A guy out of Scotland was selling a super thick stainless bucket. Look for John Paul Hughes III

I would like to try and keep budget in the $100-$180 range. Since I'm a "beginner" so to speak, I'm not quite ready to drop lots of $$$ yet.

If you follow the link that I left in my previous post, it is an accdntprone helm at $130 for an XLarge melon (he mentions me by name).

Currently in discussion with accdntprone for a starter bucket, still open to other options if they present themselves (used, etc).

I am hoping to find a loaner helm to fill the gap until I've got my own. Otherwise, I will be practicing patience.

Thanks to all for advice, PM's, etc.

I have a very large visored basicnet made by Hjalmr that engulfs my 24in head. I'd probably sell it for $125. I can have pics up later on tonight.
