I dont have access to post pics, so if after reading description you're interested, let me know and I'll e-mail you some.
This is one of Eric Slyters (Vistar Armoury) 1st attempts at non mail armour (I believe). It's 16 gauge plates riveted inside heavy leather (not sure what weight) It goes on over the head and overlaps in the back secures with 2 buckles. weighs about 30-35 lbs. All brass rivets, the whole thing is trimmed in darker leather with little brass accent rivets all around the edges. Removable canvas liner. This is designed to fit a very large man, at least 6', and with a big torso (my chest is 52"). It sorta restricts movement though if you're to short. It came to mid thigh on me and I couldnt bend very well in it.
It was a learning experience for both of us. 16 gauge is sort of overkill even for live steel, I didnt expect it to weigh as much as it does, and I dont think Eric was expecting it to weigh that much either. I'm very difficult to fit also, especially when I'm not there in person, so he had a rough time trying to predict how it would work with my body type. It's a beautiful piece of work, its just not practical for me.
asking $400 or best offer. Would also consider trading for a riveted hauberk (would throw in cash as well to make up difference on hauberk) but no cheap Indian shirts...those are a dime a dozen.
shoot me an e-mail for pics: jasmyne.lla@verizon.net
