Why was the lower part of the eye slot nasel riveted on the inside?

I have no clue whatsoever. :-)

I got the helm from a friend who had no use for it. I thought I would but changed my mind. I also put a pair of A/B SS Gaunts up as well.

A/B = Ashcraft Baker most likely from the looks of them.
