isn't the shield boss a little steep.

The shield boss can be replace by a 16 ga. steel boss ,8 1/2 inches on demand, but will not be the same price.

actually the shield boss isnt steep, its just not a "Viking" style

the shieldboss pictured is called a Sugarloaf boss and they are Saxonish,

there is a big article on them that is on my list of things to scan

the only thing i see that is odd is the thickness, 3/4 inch!

good golly, the shields i use to fight rebated steel are only made of 3/8 inch plywood! and they hold up reasonably well in SCA combat too!
