Fiber Artist using historical dyes

Post by Celestial Strings »

Hello! I wanted to introduce myself and let people know about my craft. I understand that several forms of fiber arts are considered historically accurate for the SCA and other historical associations (spinning, dyeing, weaving, inkle weaving) but I'm not 100% sure about knitting or crocheting. I'm getting ready to launch a line of natural and plant fiber based yarns (100% cotton, wool, silk and blends of those) that will be dyed using real Indigo, cochineal, logwood, madder, osage orange, pomegranate, weld, sandalwood, annato, brazilwood, kamala, cutch, henna and alkanet. I'm currently researching the dyes so that I can identify the periods they were the most popular and tie them with the regions that they were commonly used in for those of you that would like to have that information. The reason I'm here is to see if this would be something any of you would be interested in? Thank you for your time.
I'm located in the USA, West Coast, Southern California.
