I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I am looking for a large sheet of aluminum. It doesn't have to be any special type of aluminum, as long as it's .050 thick.
Looking for, at least, 36x26 in size.
Can anyone help me out?

I have access to .050" material. As I am not at work right now I can't quote you a price until Monday. What are you using it for?

Yes, what is it for? That would be too light to hold up for long as a shield, and it would wind up dented pretty quick for body armor. The only thing I would use 0.050" aluminum for is overlapping scales.

sithcamaro-

Are you looking air T-6 aluminum specifically, or just aluminum sheet? onlinemetals.com sells aluminum in a variety of thicknesses fairly cheaply.

I just checked out that online metals.com and you really need to find a cheaper place to get your metal. I get 4x8 sheets of steel cheaper than they sell 3x4'

For 4130 sheet onlinemetals.com charges about three times as much as aedmotorsport.com.

Just a local supplier in Houston. Triple S steel. 16 gauge hot rolled or cold rolled 4x8 runs around $25. A company closest to my ranch called Lehmans pipe and steel runs within $1 of them. Aluminum in 1/8 inch (I know this because I built a heavy/thick aluminum boat out of this) runs $125 for 4x8 sheet, so thinner would be cheaper. There is bound to be a local steel supplier to industry somewhere around you.

Thanks guys. I actually found a sheet large enough. This is my first time working with metals. I'm just trying to throw together a Lord of the Rings outfit, in time for a convention.

Check with your local Public Works department, and get yourself some old aluminum road signs. They're just the right thickness for practicing and making costume/LARP armour. If you have to pay for them, I'd be surprised....just tell em what you want them for and I bet they give you a bunch.
