I do live steel armor combat demonstrations and shows for Renn Faires and conventions. As a member of autumn tree armored company I am in need of a new kit from Helm to Sabbatons. I would like to work with a local armorsmith so that we can do sizing but I'm willing to entertain other ideas with some really good feed back from past customers. I am also looking for a new gambeson. please feel free to contact me at
bjboucher@juno.com. I would like to work with a New England Armorsmith for sizing reasons.

Morgan is right Robert MacPherson is as good as it gets

. Jeff at Historic Enterprises is good to
http://www.historicenterprises.comEven if he is not who you go with I suggest getting spring steel armor, it is far more dent resistant and that is important for steel fighting.

I have sent Robert an email, thanks for the help...though to be honest it might be ALOT more then I'm looking to spend.
I always intended to get spring steel...I should have mentioned that above.

http://www.bestarmour.com/ they are in the cech republic I believe but I have heard many good things and seen thier work and have to say with the exchange rate it is a very reasonable price. They seem to do alot of authentic work as well. They are very particular about sizing as well. One of the members who posts here told me they asked him to measure the parts they requested with a caliper to make sure as possible of the sizing since they are so far away. I think that says alot when an arnouer is will to put his work to that kind of sizing conditions. Warren at hoseki leather who posts here had armour made from him. shoot him an email for pics.

Yes, MacPherson is more than most of us can spend, but you didn't specify.

Patrick Thaden can probably do you as well, but he's in Texas.

If safety is also an issue, I can do gussets, voiders and all the other little flexable bits in very light welded spring stainless chainmail.

I also would recommend Patrick Thaden. He is one of the best up and coming armourers in the US and I know of know one who would say otherwise.
I personally have purchased a visor from him and he is currently working on a milanese leg harness for me.
His eye for details and craftsmanship are outstanding. Here are some pics he took of my legs in progress.

I believe all of the pictures he has there are several years old.
I would email him and discuss your project with him
patrick_thaden@hotmail.com . I know he is getting married in a couple of weeks so the quicker the better. Normally his communication is second to none but I know he is probably going to be on his honeymoon until the end of October.
