I am selling a pigface bascinet by Get Dressed for Battle (GDFB). I paid an apprentice armorer to do some modifications, made a few corrections myself, and then realized after I began the liner that it was going to be the wrong shape for my head. I have a 23.5" head, on the long side- I would recommend this for 23" or smaller. The photos are at https://www.flickr.com/photos/127320481 ... 7569490697 - it's the last helmet in this group, the 8 photos following the picture of me posing with a different one. Price reduced: $250 plus shipping. The specs are as follows:

-14 gauge mild steel. Inner dimensions at brow level: 26” around, 7” wide, 9 ¼” long.

-The visor has been stripped of its original crude brass trim, with the holes remaining. The hinges and pivot arms have been completely rebuilt (see close-ups of riveted/welded construction detail) to a more period profile. The original work came out more asymmetrical than I liked, so I replaced the left arm and hinge barrel with a transplant from the grill visor (see below). It's kind of a Frankenstein job on the inside, but it's solid. The point of the nose has been re-welded. The breaths on the underside have been boxed out to improve on the original crude slots.

-Spring-catch installed to keep it in the down position during use.

-Cast rosette pivots by Revival Enterprises.

-Bronze vervelles installed.

-Includes a partly finished, hand-stitched linen suspension liner stuffed with horsehair, and a custom-made leather camail band, dyed red and decorated with stamped and painted gold roses. The camail itself is NOT included.

-Not pictured but also included: a bar grill visor with “period-plausible” construction (no visible welds), needs the left pivot arm replaced since I transferred it to the pigface.
