Reproduction Late Medieval Book

Post by ^ »

The kit item you've always wanted. A book that you can sit and read and still be authentic.

LOL.

I would rather equip and entire house troop of men at arms with weapons, armor, and tentage, than have a replica book.

Saw Peder's book at Michaelmas it is quite nice. Jehan books are a sign of wealth, and for those in LH portraying the rich it is a great prop.

Flonzy, yes, yes, you're right, but these books are multi-thousand dollar replicas, some in the range of ten-thousand plus.

While I like the idea, there are many other needs which have higher priority in my book than such a book as the ones advertised in Finn's Fine Books.

For my portrayal, I'm assembling a couple of the soft-sided ledger journals, made of simple quires of pages sewn into a soft leather cover which folds and ties together to create a self-case. I expect that would be what a clerk campaigning with his master would have carried - probably in a stout box along with extra quills and tightly-stoppered pots of ink.

Still, when I win the lottery and I'm building my small castle, I'll ring those guys up for a few masterpieces for my library... Image Those are gorgeous.

If I'd seen this earlier, I'd have bid on it. Anyone know who did the work, or if they plan to produce more books?

Woops... a few second's research shows that it was, indeed, Peder's work. So... gonna make more?
