A friend of mine wants to get one. She saw the ones on the White Mountain Armoury site and loves them, but his site says not taking commissions.

Anyone out there taking commissions on them? She isn't in a hurry and willing to wait until after the holiday rush before placing an order.

I have been waiting to find one of these for nearly 2 years. So far I haven't found anyone who could do them better than Adam at White Mountain.

One day I hope he gets better so I can get into his queue.

Well I have waited this long. I am heading back to Iraq on Thanksgiving day so I will have plenty to keep me busy for the next few months at least. I should be back in March or so. But would love to get into your waiting list.

Glad to see you apparently made it back all in one piece. I don't know if you remember but I was in Bahrain while you were in Kuwait and we spoke a few times.

Well I am heading back to the desert on the 27th. I volunteered so that someone could come home who has been gone for the last 6 months and was slotted to stay an undetermined amount longer.

But I am glad to see you made it back well.

I did one not too long ago (right before Pennsic), and I think Johannes could be talked into taking a custom order right now since our docket is pretty clear. Send him an Email and see what he says.

I felt since I didn't have family to spend the holiday's with and there is a troop from my base in California who just had a baby, I decided I would be honored to relieve him from his duty in order to spend time with her.

The rest of my armor is a bit hideous right now. I am in kind of a transition. The arms go next week. The lamellar goes after Christmas to be replaced with another style.

Real nice Broinnfin. I really like those helms. I am hoping to get one some day. What style are you going for instead of the Lamellar? I too am in a transition. I have gone from a coat of plates to just a kidney belt made by Chris Arel of Silverthorne armoury. And I got rid of the chain. 40 lbs of chain is just a bit much for me.

I fought all war in it at Great Western War here in Caid for three days. By the end of the war I was so tired from running up the hill, attack the castle, run down the hill resurect, run up the hill, attack repeat as necessary.

I was on the King's Honor Guard during that war so, since everyone was throwing themselves at us in order to get at the King, I had my hands full.

40 lbs of chain is a bit much for me, too. Particularly in south Louisiana. So, while my soft kit is western Scandanavian, specifically Hebridean, I am going to go for more of a Varangian Rus look in the lamellar. I am lacing the corselet upwards (I thought about doing the banded lamellar, but decided against it), with downward laced upper arm flaps, over a knee-length split padded gambeson. It probably won't be finished until after my reign - I am a bit busy at present.
