Interested, what kind of materials would you use for the lining and the shell; what material would be used to attach the plates to the shell? PM'd with other questions.

Form this time viewtopic.php?f=1&t=159101 not many things have changed.
Shell - layer of 100%wool (now I can also use velvet) and 2 layers of tarapulin=canvas (or I can use 1 layer of canvas to reduce weight)
I don`t get the question about
what material would be used to attach the plates to the shell
Plates attached to the shell with rivets - so attaching material is steel. Roofing nails(galvanized as an option) processed with a file if being precise.
What would the timeframe be to build/ship?

making Fitted CoP 1-8 weeks, Kussnach/Wisby 1-6 weeks
Standard air shipping 7-14days
Would it be possible to add length to the shell (more material, no more plates); make it look more like an armored surcoat?
Right now I have material only for length as on pics, but Yes It`s possible.
What would the shipping costs be?
~40$(shipping price increased because of changes in currency exchange rates), maybe more, depends on your size.
How can you accept payment?
Western Union
SWIFT -under question
No PayPal :(
What would you expect in terms of payment schedule? (Half up front, pay as you go, etc...)
I expect 30% prepay, other part after finishing project.
I have few people interested (but titan only for one right now),
so I`am going to choose most interesting and challenging offer (want to make fitted with velvet shell) , but if someone will want simplified version of Wisby and ready to prepay 100% - I will choose this offer viewtopic.php?f=3&t=168159 (without scallops)

Would you be willing to do one with brass rivets instead of steel? I'd rather not have to worry about rust.

Sad, but I`am not sure if I can find brass rivets. Need to check this out.
copper or copper-covered - maybe,
galvanized (so face part will be protected) - definitely.

I'm interested. It ain't historical, but it'll be easier to wear, and I like what I've seen of your work thus far E-D, at least the pics of them.

copper is best with leather and won't react with the titanium.
steel rivets will rot the leather/cloth.

t6 alum is lighter than titanium in a decent gauge(.080 -- .010) and will work great for this kind of cop.
but it will react with the rivets unless you use aluminum(best) rivets or stainless.

edit: I am not sure how alum n the interior will hold up in a cop that is constantly sweated in. anyone have some experience(own one) with this?

some research indicates alum/stainless will rot when exposed to chlorides:
Aluminum and Stainless Steel
Under atmospheric conditions of moderate to mild humidity, contact between a galvanized surface and aluminum or stainless steel is unlikely to cause substantial incremental corrosion. However, under very humid conditions, the galvanized surface may require electrical isolation from the aluminum or stainless steel. Normally the galvanic coupling with stainless steel works very well but when there are even the slightest trace of chloride in the environment a galvanic corrosion will take place.

best of luck

I'll bet aluminum brazier rivets would be perfect for these. I think RJ Leahy sells them by the pound. Of course, there is amazon :http://www.amazon.com/Brazier-Solid-Alu ... B0040CZ73O

I have had aluminum roofing nails holding the palm strap in my Ti demi-gauntlets completely corrode away.
I replaced them with copper and haven't had an issue since.

I also have used aluminum rivets to hold the demi pieces together. They have seen some corrosion, but not as much. Probably because the leather strap kept the moisture on the rivets longer.

I haven't noticed an issue with the aluminum rivets on my Ti finger gauntlets, but this may be because they get far less use than the demis.

copper on titanium is fine so is brass or stainless.
but copper with alum is a disaster.
that's why I was wondering how alum rivets would workout with an alum cop.

copper coated steel eventually failed on my buffalo hide stainless scale and the scales started falling out after 10 years or so.

I`am not going to make it from aluminium. For me easier to get titanium :D

Due to this list using a zinc coated steel roofing nails with titanium would be a very bad idea, thx, it will help.

I would dearly love to see a front closing coat of plates of that style. And at a $400 price point I'd be very interested.

I own brigandine arms I bought instock from Evil_Doctor.
They are great! They are pictured in a thread from him that is linked above.
I would be really tempted to buy a matching cop, but i need the money for the house at the moment.
Good luck with your sale Evil_Doctor ;)

No, they don`t have what I need. And there is no need to buy rivets across the sea
