The last e-mail I got from you was the one with all your info. That was back on the 19th. If you've sent anything since then, I haven't gotten it.

It's funny. I've noticed a distinct lack of Galon posting ever since most of us decided we were fed up with his BS. Go fig.

Anyone else who didn't get what was ordered from Galon, please get in contact with me.

you might want to publish the various names that Galon did business under on eBay and elsewhere, as well as his mundane name so people who are not sure if they were taken by him can verify. I understand he has changed names several times.

His mundane name is David Patton, and the ebay name he used as of last January was something like "Ancien Armoury Noir".

I don't know any of the names he used on e-bay. Does anyone else know of any?

OK, the information is off to my brother, and he's waiting on an address. Once he gets that, it will be off to Postal Inspection.

I will keep everyone updated.

I am getting ready to make a purchase of armour soon. After reading this I am getting scared to send someone a large deposit. Could we make a list here of reputable armourers? Ones that are trustworthy?

Well, that's subject to change. Years ago, If you asked me if david patton would ship out within his delivery window, I'd have said yes.

This is the man who single handedly saved the archive during the porno-squatter incident.

Then you have a group of armourers who are just often late, but you will get the stuff (eventually) Steve Belden, for example. Steve seems like a good guy, and I have no doubt he will make good on all of his orders. however, WHEN that will be is questionable.

further, its subject to change. Bill McCall was a very fast mailler, but dropped the ball and vanished owing lots of folks money.

Wise ogre armoury and arador both have reviews boards, where you can get a good idea, but there are no guarnatees.

Just to follow up what Rev said, your best bet is to ask specific questions when you're about to deal with a specific armourer.

I trust Illusion Armory completely - they have always kept their word and ship dates within the week even estimating out with six month lead times - Lynette and Scott are very honest people to deal with there.

I recently read an article of an ebay scammer that just received a six year federal sentence for mail fraud - the postal service (internet business transaction fall under mail jurisdiction) went after him and found him even after he moved. People that don't take internet business seriously WILL pay the piper if they don't operate ethically.

Still waiting. My brother said that he will hear back regardless if they decided to do anything or not, so at least we'll know.

It's not too late to give them extra info. If anyone else was defrauded by Galon, or knows anyone who was (and didn't give me info) please, give it now.

sorry to bump this topic with no new development.

i was just browsing through the thread, and seem to be a total of 15 people that gotten ripped off by galon. i may be way off, but that is my estimate. anyway with about 15 people we could have a small tourney. The "I Got Ripped Off by Galon but I'm Trying to Make the Best out of a Bad Situation" double elim tourney or something. Perhaps this could be done at Pennsic.

just a whim....

There may be 15 that have gotten ripped here, but I only heard from 4. Counting myself, and my sister, that's only 6 names that were given to Postal. That's why I'm still trying to get people to give me their info. It can still be added to the info Postal already has.

Thanks Lark

I hope we get something out of this.

But, in the meantime, i need some new hand protection. If anybody has any gauntlets they are looking to get rid of, e-mail me at Cactusdan1@hotmail.com with a pic and a price.

Lark, did you get my two pair from two ebay auctions 2 years ago? I thought I contacted you but wanted to be sure. Thanks for the help.

Stefan, I don't have anything from you, so I don't believe you did contact me. E-mail me with all the info you have, copies of any saved e-mails to or from Galon, and a brief paragraph of the info (this is what I ordered, what I paind, when, etc).

If the e-mails bounces back, post and let me know and I'll e-amil you so you can reply (it happened once before, very odd).

Still no word yet. It's starting to look like Postal isn't going to do anything, probably because it just isn't enough in the dollar amount. There is still a chance they might, but wither way, I thank everyone who gave me info, and I will keep you all updated.

Lark, I had a hard drive death, so I am glad that I sent you all the info I had.
Perhaps a Fed might be interested.
At this time, if anything is resolved, I would be surprised.

Well, this appears to be it. Not enough people, not enough money lost. As good as it would be for Postal (or anyone for that matter) to go after a defrauding armorer, the Federal government is reactive, not proactive.

I will keep a hold of all the info, and keep looking for those who did not get their merchandise in a hope that someday, something can be done. Until then, I want to thank everyone who gave me their info, and apologize that I could not do more.

Thank you all for your time.

I'm going to put my ass out on a line here.

That website that was mentioned? That people liked the idea of but were afraid of getting sued?

Its going up. I think it'll be titled "Reasons not to buy from Armourer (insert name)".

Customer name (first name, last initial)
Email
Item
Ordered when
Price paid
Not delievered.

If anyone is interested, let me know. PM here or email me at jakesch@ramcell.net or jakesch@medieval-web.net

Sorry if the emails don't come out as active links!

I don't think the worry was about people posting as saying X armorer ripped me off, after all, that happens now. I think the worry was giving armorers an Archive stamp of Approval. It makes it more official, and if an armorer goes south, people might want to blame the Archive, since they had the Archive's SoA. That's where it gets tricky.
