Anyone give me a rough price quote on a face plate/visor for a bascinet? Time frame for delivery if commissioned? Would like to have it by March. Would be able to ship helmet to you for proper fitting.
Need 14g, mild steel, "dog face" visor (I have pics of what I would like), for rebated steel combat. No opening in the face plate larger than .75".

I'll bet Sven, who posts here as Metalbender, could do one. I'll dig up his email addy ans some pics of a dog face he did a while back. Not sure what his que is like, though.
leather_drgn@yahoo.comFound the pics.
http://groups.msn.com/Helmschmied/shoebox.msnw?albumlist=2I talked with him about doing a helm with a center
pivot visor, with a different shape, and he said no problem. His prices are VERY reasonable. The price he quoted me was $350, plus 75 for a grill, and plus $100 to do it in stainless. (including a 12 gauge skull. not bad, eh?

Master Trevar of Steelholm is excellent at doing visors & face plates. He is not a computer sort of guy, but if you email the pics of what you want, I will show him and get an estimate. He does great work and is always on time.

Garreth,
How bizzare! That dog face visor is the same pic I have! I must have downloaded it for future reference not realizing who it belonged to. Cool! That's the exact kind of visor I am looking for. I already have the bascinet, just need to slap a visor on it!

Glad I could help! I emailed Terry to make him aware of this post, and to send him some pics of a center pivot grill, like the one Master Cad is making for me. Hopefully he will post here soon.

O.K., i got an email back from Terry, and due to safety concerns of making a piece for a helmet he did not make, he is only interested in doing a compleat helm. However, i did not mention that you were willing to send him the hilm for fitting and attachment. This might change his mind. I would email him and ask.

Garreth,
I can completely understand his position. But, the helmet in question will obviously have to be sent to the armourer to obtain proper fitting and design. This helmet is constructed very well, good welded seams, good thickness. I just thought there might be someone out there who has an opening in ther que, and wouldlike to make some easy money. We'll see I guess.

I'd email Patrick Thaden for a quote:
patrick_thaden@hotmail.comHe did the visor for my bascinet and it turned out exactly like the picture I sent him.
