This is made from 16ga. hot rolled mild steel with a 10ga. top.
It is not lined and the breath holes are not drilled. This way, you can customize it yourself.

Couple questions...

1) How tall are the eye slots? They LOOK shorter than 1", just checking.

2) What would you guess the proper head measurement to be to wear this helm? Barring that estimate, can you take an outside measurement just above the eye slot at the height that your brow would be?

Nice helm. At 16 gauge, I don't know if I'd wear it in SCA, but I have several helms that I wouldn't wear and get hit with a stick.

The eye slots are 5/8" wide. There is room to flair them, if one desires to.

The circumference is 30" on the outside.

Inside front to back is 10.5", and inside side to side is 8.25"

The rivets are 1/8" dia. steel with 7/8" spacing.

The finish is fire blackened; enhanced factory hot rolled black mill scale.

It weighs in at 9 pounds.

I'd probably bid on it but I have Estrella and Gulf coming up and I'm going to both.

Ps: My web site could use some new pics. I am testing the newbie tools; a
Norman with no nasal, is coming off the line....Single rivet with tapered bands.
With the new CNC plasma capabilities, the curvy bands would be cool. No?

Damn i wish i could afford to buy this piece. Just to have it because you made it and the kick ass armourers mark you have. i'd easily pay 150 for it.... if i had the money.

Just a sucky time money wise.

Today when I arrived home the Great helm that was for auction. With great curiosity I opened the box to see if I had recieved my moneys worth. To my delight I relised upon first glance that I had a finely crafted piece. Upon closer inspection I discovered that every rivet was peened properly, and that the seams were tight When he said that the helm was a prototype and a unperfect helm, he did him self uncredit. The only "flaw" was a couple of tiny rough marks that need to be sanded. The helmet is great (Pun Intended) and I would not hesitate to do busness with him again.

I found a great helm kit under the bench last week.
They are long discontinued, as others are filling that niche.
Anyway it looks like one in the pic above with slight modifications.
This is the last forgotten one. I would like to auction it off.

Do you think it would be OK to auction this found Great Helm Kit on this old thread?
Or start a new one?

The one I found is 14ga. mild steel, plasma cut with the hot rolled shitty finish.
It has a pre shaped 10ga. top cap.
