Hey all-

So I posted this on Honor blade and a few other places... but I'm
looking for as much information as I can get.... and I know there are
a few other people who might be interested in this.. SO....

I am in the process of looking for a canvas, preferable sunfordger,
tent for the upcoming season, but most especially before Pennsic....

I've looked at tentsmiths, panther primatives, blockade runner (I
think)... I want to stay away from wedge or bell tents. Two people
plus two set of fighting gear plus clothing will need to live in it
at Pennsic. It must hold up in a storm.

So, what i want to know is this... I don't have any experience with
canvas tents.... any words of wisdom? do's and don't's? things to
stay away from? Do you have a style that you find works great or
doesn't work at all?

Any comments would be greatly appriciated... I am also willing to
consider used tents, so if anyone is looking to unload one and it's
what i need... give a hollar!

The girl and I have the same factors to contend with. Two people, armour and clothes, plus alot of chests, tubs, whatnot. We went with a 10x12 Wall tent from Panther. We're getting a fly to add on, so we can make a wee bit more room inside the tent. The tent itself is great. Very sturdy, very weather resistant....we stayed dry last pennsic, if that says anything... and pretty roomy, considering all the crap we stuff inside it. Everything is aligned around the full size slate bed, but I built the legs high enough to store stuff underneath.
We chose a wall, because it fits for various periods. Roman (though, Panther now has more specific Roman Wall tents) and ACW. If it fits for others.. cool. If not.. oh well. The price is good for the quailty you get. We just bought the canvas, and decided against their set-up package. It's too easy to just make your own poles and ropes, to pay what they ask plus the shipping. The stakes and pole sleeve were the only things from their set-up that we ordered.
