As having recently started fighting I am in search of a Mongolian style Helm or something from the area of Asia in the late 11th early 12th century.

I made myself a real cheap mongolian horseman's helm.
I got the top to a welded norman conical and simply put it on over a lambskin steppes hat. With the brim of the hat rolled up over the outside edge of the helm-top, so the under-fur shows, it is very passable as either a mongolian or hunnish helm. Luckily the helm-top I got is more circular than oval in shape, so that helped a little. When I want it to look more mongolian than hunnish, I wear some black silk cloth under it that hangs down onto my shoulders.

Ya know, the problem I keep running into when I look for a Mongol style helmt is that they are all based on the later period persian looking helmets. Beautiful work to be sure, but if you'r looking for an earlier period piece you're SOL. In my books the helmets that stand out to me the most are the ones that are essentially spangenhelm types with 4 plates and ornate kinda scalloped frame pieces holding the plates together. I think a bar cage like the White Mountain kettle hats that go all the way around the head would work real well if you covered the bottom part with something. I was thinking a lamellar aventail or even a cloth drape of some sort would look real good. I'm to the point now where I'm gonna go over to Kronos' shop and try and make one myself. It'll look like shit but at this point I dont care. it's frustrating that you cant really find those period mongol helmets. I know the milk and meat of an armorer is gonna be the bascinets and great helms and all that but there have to be enough mongols out there that would generate enough of a demand to have at least one armorer develop a design and be willing to make them once in a while.
Sorry about the rant but this has frustrated me for a couple of years now.

That one has some similarities to one of the helmets displayed in the Mongol Invasion Museum in Hakata, Japan. Photos of that helm shows a front brim that's more "policeman's cap" shaped (that is, with a downward slope) than flat, like the one on GAA Armouries' page. It also has a higher "domed plume peak" than Master Geoffrey's version. Still, it has the basic form of a Mongol-style spangen.

Ya know what, that is the closest to what I'm looking for that I've ever seen. The question is does he still make them and how much they are?
**edited to add** Heck, all I would need would be the top. No sides or back would be necessary. I know an amazingly talented welder that could make me the face cage I wanted and can handle covering it up with the lamellar I want. Anyone know how to get ahold of the gentleman that did this wonderful piece?

If he's not making em, I'm sure you can find one of the skillful armourers here to make their version of it for you. After all (to my uneducated eyes anyway) it lloks like its meerly a spangen top with a custom brow/nasal.

Ok, so who could/would make a helmet bowl like that? How much would it cost? Just curious.
