I am! I have a seriously burned out shoulder from jousting and boot camp. I'm very happy I love bastard sword because I can't carry alluminum sheilds very long. My overall game is suffering and It's extremely annoying to only be able to practice S and S for short spurts.

I'd be interested. One question, what kind of weight are we talking and could you cut it down to 24X30 in a particular shape, nothing exotic just a particular curve?

Gruber,

I could use one of those shields too. I can't believe that I am even considering using a heater, but oh well.

I'd just like to see the basic shape on them first and make sure they are not too long and thin.

Let us know if we can get them.

Why so thick? I have used 0.0625 (16 guage) 7075 T-6 aluminum for the last ten years and have had good success with it. How does the T-100 compare in strength with the T-6?

Was told .. that .125 ( 1/8" ) was best due to the thickness .. not only strong but the whole mass vs force thing .. i will check monday on lighter guage .. see what i cime up with ..

Please Excuse my Possible metallurigal ignorance...... But I thought the temper scale for aluminum was T-0 thru T-6.... PERIOD.
If I am wrong I would LOVE to see the documentation on the Actual ASME recognized Temper ratings.
As per the Knowledge I accept currently as correct: the actual biggest difference in a shields "Toughness" (For SCA like impact) would be the specific Alloy. 6061; 2024; 7075 ( :D I LOVE 7075 for shields). And after that the temper grade in each alloy.... IE 2024 in T-3 is actually slightly more tough (Springy, deformation resistant, etc) than 6061 in T-6.
Anyone care to clear this up for me????? or his he getting his aluminum from the same source as the Amplifiers that go to "11" That "Spinal Tap" uses?

Good point, Okami San, we have pondered this very subject. Check our FAQ page and we go into painful detail. I would have just directed you to the link where I pirated most of my information but it is no longer active.

My thought is that the misnomer T-100 is made from the simple error of combining "T" for the temper rating and 100 for the thickness of the metal.
