a "rosette" punch

I am looking for a punch that when struck upon a copper rivet would leave the making of a rosette.
The rivet wont be holding anything, it just for decoration, and I would use no larger than ¼" diameter rivets.
It would need to pien them down so they won't come out, cuz what good are decorations if they fall off

Nah, what you want is a punch to make brass rivets into large rosettes so you can make that Polish Hussar armour

Talk to a smith, one method of making such a set is to take a *steel* rivit (or even better, normalize a ball bearing and weld it to the end of a piece of round stock) and file/grind it to the shape you want the rivit to form to.
Then you heat up the stock for your set to as high a forging temp as it will take, wire brush off the scale and pound your positive into it---why the ball bearing works better, stiffer at higher temps. Go ahead and make a handfull of sets trying out different depths.
heat treat, clean up and play around till you get the correct rivit height/set depth combination.
Note that some ornate rivits may have ben chased or engraves/filed after being upset.

In a word, no. I have a brass rosette shaped washer with a hole in it for a rivet. I was thinking about making a stamp to make those, but I haven't gotten to it yet. If you look closely at that hussar armour, you'll rosette-shaped rivets and washers in various sizes. One punch just won't do it.

That would be cool but then you wouldn't get the petal shapes unless it cut the washer as well. If Your wanting to make Hussar armour you'll want washers mostly and in brass. Diffenet sizes are good as well. I just used a chisel to set my lines. doesn't take to long. Of course Johannes at Windrose Armoury has them for sale. My hussar breat plate has almost 30 of those suckers all hand made. Talk about tired and sore fingers!
