I've noticed that the shells of similar helmets are too narrow front-to-back. What are the interior dimensions at the brow?

You should be sure to fix your website, which still says they're 16GA stainless.

Not sure where I saw the 16 gauge note, but I didn't find it when I looked again... maybe I'm going crazy.

Nah, you aren't going crazy. When I left the house yesterday, I hit the "publish" button on Frontpage. It updated the home page, but not the actual buying page for the basinets. So one lucky soul got a basinet at the old 16GA price ($225). :)

I fixed it when I got home.

Way cool, Steve.

I had a couple of friends ask me at Pennsic if I knew of anyone regularly offering SCA-legal hounskulls - I've just emailed and sent them your way.

"These helms fit those with approximately a 23" [58cm] circumference head, with room for padding."

Any plans for larger sizes?

Another spot for you to edit - your combat_requirements.htm page mentions only 16ga.

Hi Steve!

I've been haunting your site for months waiting for these to come back in stock, only to find to my surprise that they're now 14g. Well done, and I'm glad you were able to keep the price so reasonable.

So naturally I ordered one today!

All the best,

Damn, I knew I should have waited...I gotta say, I love the rounded great helm I got from you Steve. Also glad to see you weathered the Hurricane!
Wonder if I can talk my wife into letting me get a second helm it 14 gauge? It would be safer....hmm

Congratulations Steve,

You are now affecting the plate armor market in a major way. Let's hope that it's worth it.

Steve,

First off, Great Job!

Second, why did you stop the liner holes so far down?

Speaking of this helmet, which I just received (and by the way is excellent!)...anyone have any suggestions for a decorative visor pivot rivet I could swap out the bolts with? It's a 5/16" bolt, so I'd need something beefier than than say, the Historic Enterprises offering.

Cheers,

Christian

Steve: Are you perchance coming to Crown list (its a Madoc run event)? If so could you bring a helm or two, so i can see just how big it is? I have what has been affectionately reffered to as a "Melon", and I may pad my helm differently than you, but i'm worried if i order one, it wont fit and I'm stuck with it.

Barring that, do you have a return policy?

"anyone have any suggestions for a decorative visor pivot rivet I could swap out the bolts with?"

you could try a 5/16 roundhead brass rivet and do some filework to it or have a couple of 5/16 shaft conical head rivets turned on a lathe. If you go the latter route make sure NOT to use a free machining brass as most of those alloys don't cold work well and will crumble or split when you go to pein them.

Hi Cet,

Who carries a 5/16" roundhead in brass? I've only seen up to 1/4" at Leahy, McMaster, etc.

Thanks!

Hi Rev!

I don't have plans to go to Crown List at the moment, but, like everything else at Forth Armoury, we have a 30 day money-back gaurantee. Just return it in its original condition for a full refund, minus shipping of course.

Hi Christian,

JC rivet will have them: http://www.rivetsinstock.com/rivet01.htm

Not sure on price as it varies with the metals market.

A friend of mine was flipped out bothered that they came back in stock. He lost patience and bought from another buyer, much to his disadvantage, because he much loves the helmet you offer.

Alas, the hazards of men at arms.
