For Sale or Trade: XL Anshelm Bascinet / Thaden klappvisier

Post by Karl »

Friends,

First and foremost I want to thank Edric in Houston for an absolute dream of a transaction. I've bought six helms now this year on the AA yet dealing with Edric has been one of those experiences that not only was fair but helps me believe that honor isn't just a catchphrase in the SCA. In my opinion Edric is an extremely honorable person who stands behind his name and I have a sincere admiration for him.

Edric please email me your registry for his or her baby shower. :)

Alas, the helm - I *love* this helm but my noggin is just too small. A friend here who has a 23.75" head and uses Mandrake Armoury padding can fit in it perfectly with the eyeslots lining up just right, so I'd say that 23.75" - 24.5" guys can fit this without question. I'd have to verify this with Luther Anshelm but I am 99.999% certain that this is his size "XL" bascinet.

The helm is made by Anshelm Arms and has vervelles and a bargrille included. It is mild steel.

The klappvisier is made by Patrick Thaden and is raised from one piece of steel. Everytime I showed this helm to others here I was asked first where the visor came from, it's that good. I personally think that the visor is simply outstanding and I will almost certainly be commissioning with Patrick soon as a result of seeing his work first-hand.

The crest pictured is also included. All pieces are in outstanding condition.

Asking $450 to start with, three-day auction, and I would consider trades for a smaller sized 14th century helm of similar value. I'm trying to buy this helm in fact http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=37206 because I strongly believe in the quality in this Anshelm/Thaden product.

Thank you,
Karl

Karl, what Midrealm events are you likely to go to in the next couple of months? Still interested in seeing the Hedgecock/Anshelm/Gruber "full schmack?"
