Right guys and gals. If I deciede to sell my hauberk, what do you think would be a fair price?
Pictures can be seen in Cats thread http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=40934&highlight= where I have posted a couple of pics.
As said there, the hauberk consists of butted mail made with square section spring steel washer (about 1 - 1.2 mm section, ID about 8mm). I'm 6 feet, 190, 44 inch cest. It comes to my knees and still has plenty of room over clothing and a gambeson.
It's galvanised and it's heavy! (about 50lbs). It's tough as heck - years of live steel fighting, never had to repair once. Have actually full force stab tested this (with me in it - don't ask me WHY I did that!
) and the blade (sharpened saex) pint barely got to touch the gamby.
Also has a coif, full head affair with large yoke and mouth-flap.
That's about it , detail-wise. Did I miss anything?
Considering selling (may well not) just wanted ideas on price.
Having attempted to knit mail with spring steel washers I know how much hard work it is!
The washer end actually butt - don't stand proud.
