Hi folks,

I've searched high and low to the end of the net for pull on (lace less, roper style?) black mid calf height leather boots that have good tread on the bottom. They don't have to be strictly period but not look like combat boots either.

Has anyone had success?

Wal-mart sells a pair of steel toe slips that come up a few inches above the ankle for about 29.99 , i have a pair and they are great, really good tread too.

I think I have the same ones, they are period-ish looking (aka. not for any definative time period but pass ten foot rule). The ones that I have are made by "Herman SURVIVORS" and have a bear head on them. I think the model was a Engineer II. I wanted something that wasnt combat boot looking but had good tread and steel toed so if someone/thing (aka. shield, helm, etc.) fell on me I would be ok. The heel support is great, I can squat with my shin to my thigh and not need any other support than the boots.
