One of our long lost fighters has been getting the itch again and is looking for a CHEAP English Civil War Lobster Tail helm. Either for heavy fighting and/or thin enough (Paki or Indian) to convert to a cool rapier mask/helm.
His e-mail is
AlexCrooks@email.com (can you all gues what his name is too?) He has a smaller head.

Yay someone else to whip my tail.
Armour and Castings has a nice lobster tail. $200 for 16 ga. mild $250 for stainless.

Raulin, helpful as always. My mistake was not being specific. Alex wants an English Civil War (aka 30 Years War) style, munition blackened, lobster tail helm. Royalists & Roundheads type stuff. Oh well, John is looking for a sallet like this one though.

OK, so how about a CHEAP cabasset or even a leather helm that he can convert legally to rapier?

More sources?

Thomas, that's not a bad source for a rapier helm. Alex says "Thanks."
Does anyone out there know of a CHEAP ECW Lobster Tail style combat helm for sale? Maybe a fighter at your local practice has one that they would like to trade up for? Rusty and dented could still work since the rest of his kit is "munition grade."

Define cheap... I have a ECW Lobster Tail I might want to sell as my group dosen't do the ECW...
I used it 10 years ago for sparring with bamboo swords... would work for rapier but it's not a SCA Heavy Helm but one in a historical gauge of mild steel... it was made in the UK.
Cheers,

Ashcraft-Baker's "Sallet" might fill the bill. They are very economically priced:

$125

Or even cheaper from Therion Arms at $90

Or on e-bay:

curious fact there....

Half Way there

OK, Alex is half way there. He still needs an SCA legal ECW style lobster tail helm. PLease look around at the next practices and see if someone might have one that they would be willing to sell or trade up for.
