Valerius "Old Bear" Full Coutered Elbows Auction

Post by Lloyd »

Hi All,

I finally had to 'bite the bullet' and replace these elbows on my joust arms as they didn't fit well with my (expanded) upper cannons.

So, as my Stonekeep replacement couters will be arriving any day, I am selling these VALERIUS  made couters.

They are Thick SS (I am guessing about 14g) and made about 12 years ago. They are solid as a rock and since VALERIUS  armour is rare as hen's teeth - a genuine find.

You can see pics of the elbows at these websites:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/joustwarr ... pg&.src=ph (for some reason the image isn't working)

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/joustwarr ... pg&.src=ph

and here: http://albion-swords.com/lanzefest-2004-gallery.htm

Auction begins NOW and ends at Midnight (CST), March 31 (next Thursday).

I am opening the bidding at $50 or will entertain trade offers.

Valerius made these arms for the Heroes and Villains joust troupe, which sold them to the Bristol Ren Faire when they were subsumed by the company. I traded a brand new pair of arms for them back when I worked there (hell, I wanted a pair of Valerius arms!).

Any questions email or PM me.

Happy Bidding!

Quick note:

1)Please post all bids on this thread

and

2) I reserve the right to stop the auction if Baron Valerius wishes to buy them from me. I think that he deserves this right.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled Archive :D

Lloyd,
Thank you very much for the courtesy, but to be fair, I'll join the bidding. I'll go $60.00.

Thanks,

:bump:

I did mention: They are Thick Stainless Steel (I am guessing about 14g) and made about 12 years ago.

They are solid as a rock and since VALERIUS armour is rare as hen's teeth - these are a genuine find for both a collector or someone looking to UPGRADE their armour.

Coming Bidders! When else would you get a chance to own armour made by the Master - VALERIUS

From the Chronique by Brian Price:

Valerius School: The modern school of armourers established within the SCA under the founding partners Aaron Toman (AKA SCA Count Valerius Paencalvus, Knight, OL-Middle Kingdom) and Wade Allen (no longer in the SCA). The first armourers in this country who were successful at blending artistic quality with historical accuracy and safety on the tournament field.

They taught a small generation of armourers who followed them, all of whom attained the rank of "laurel" in the SCA. These in turn have spawned yet a third generation, who are currently very active in the SCA armour world. "Valerius" pieces are known for being of very high quality, highly durable, highly polished, and to have a very sleek line, in addition to being extremely accurate in terms of historical style.
