Hey Gwen, I guess I will just stick with looping it through the belt. I knew that that was done, but this thing just drags on the ground a couple of inches (literally) when it's down. I figured that to be safe, I should make it so that that wouldn't happen.

But, I'll survive!

The tail (liripipe) serves no function other than to be fashionable, the longer the more fashionable. You can lump it in with other ill conceived and silly fashion must haves such as platform shoes, spike heels, corsets, bell-bottoms, blue sunglasses, and full-bottom wigs. Who thinks of these things, anyway?

Have fun at the fair-

Hello Gwen,

The liripipe does help close the neck of the hood in cold weather... so it does have a use... just not one needed in sunny California...

Cheers,

DT

Ooops. Actually, I stand corrected- David is right, you can wrap the tail around your neck to help seal out the cold. That'll be a real bonus for you in artic Dinuba, eh?

Hey, I was in the Navy, the bell bottoms were designed for us to be able to get out of them if we went overboard without having to remove our boots. Now why in the world would we want to do that, you may ask? You can use wet dungarees as a floatation device. Tie the legs together and whip them over your head to put air in the legs  So they are not totally silly....

But, Gregory, you cannot go wrong listening to Gwen and her crew on advising you on what to get and in what colors. BSD know their stuff and can help you put a really good period outfit together with very little pain!
