I purchased Steve's "faulty" Rounded Greathelm recently. The only thing wrong with it, is that right in the center of the vertical brass band is a small crack. Easily fixable.
Anyway, I was a bit hesitant about what I was going to get, it is after all an Indian made helm. However, when It arrived I had to go back to Steve's site to make sure he sent me the correct helm!
This is one damn spectacular helmet! All 14ga mirror polished smooth Stainless Steel. All edges are sanded smooth. All rivets peened well and the helm is solid. The brass trim is mirror polished as well and sits down tight on the helmet. No Gaps or "waves" in the brass trim. The Breaths are cut smooth and precise no real variance or off angles.
The whole helm is correctly perportioned. Many Indian helms look "off" because they are porportioned wrong. Not Steve's helm, it is a damn nice rendition of the ones you see in effigys. Right down to the pointed face.
The best part is that this helm FITS MY 23 1/2" HEAD! With enough room for padding! Normally Indian helms are to small for someone with my size head. However this helm will fit well after adding padding. This is going to make a great addition to my kit.
At $77 shipped this was a true steal. But, if I were in the market for a really nice greathelm I would not have a problem spending $230 retail for this helm.
If your in the market check out these helms they are definately of a higher grade than the average Indian stuff.
Of Course Steve's customer service is without question as usual
Insane Irish
