F/S: SS Jousting Rig (helm, B/B, Buffe, Grandgard) New Pics!

Post by Lloyd »

For Sale:

14g SS Close Helm; Ship's Prow visor; made by John "Shark" Perry Summer 2004 - used for full contact jousting.

Made to fit a 23 1/2" head with lots of room for padding. 1/4" occularums; meets the requirements of ALL jousting organizations worldwide. 2 piece locking visor, each piece locks independent of the other on the right side of the helm (away from lance impact) with a pin and latch system.

Jousted in it one season. No dents - only took one head shot the whole time.

14g SS Breast/Back; made to fit XXL person (52 chest, 44 waist). Has a few dents from hits, has bolts for Buffe/Grande Gard, and SS arret (lance rest). Backplate is slightly twisted from a fall, but have been told it is a simple fix. Made by Clif Basset of Knights of Azure Cross.

Buffe, 14 SS, made by Clif Basset.

Gridded Grande Gard - for Realgestech style jousting. 12g SS made by Clif Basset.

Pics can be seen here:

Sorry for the quality of the pics. The suit is entirely stainless. The "rusty: looking areas are either reflections or where the paint has rubbed off (on the grids of the grandgard)
Paid Shark $650 + shipping for the Helm last July (for the Dragon's Lair Tourney) will be willing to sell for $550 + shipping.

Paid Clif $1000 for the B/B, buffe, and grande gard last July. Would be willing to sell for $900 + shipping.

Will sell entire set for $1300 + shipping.

Looking to go to spring steel/more period appropriate joust armour. Don't think that I will be doing any more WCJA style competitive jousting and the IJA styles are much more period.

Any questions, please contact me.

sword swap?

Post by KerryStagmer »

interested in a sword swap? I can always find a home for such a helm and could make such a swap very heavy in your favor value wise. I'm sure youve seen our stuff somewhere.

interested?

Hi Kerry,

I appreciate the thought, but I actually selling my stainless rig to go back to a more "period" spring or mild steel rig. I was actually hoping to be able to pick up two helms from Beathan - one for jousting and one for rebated steel combat - from selling this helm (I'll be down $100 from what I bought it for 9 months ago - but I did joust in it all of last season, so I guess that would account for "depreciation".

Thanks again.

The helm worn on this page was made by Shark in a similar style to the one Lloyd has at about the same time as Lloyds I believe.

Hi Steve,

Easiest explanation is the the WCJA (World Championship Jousting Association) is a modern, competitive jousting association that utilizes solid lances for competitions and thus, the need for Stainless or Spring Steel armour. www.wcja.ca

The IJA (International Jousting Association) - utilizes a much more historical style of jousting using extended balsa, basswood, or yellow pine tips and a solid lance base (they don't hit as hard). www.worldjousting.com

While I will continue to occassional joust in the WCJA style, I think that I am pretty much done competing in the WCJA. I will be competing in the IJA, and no longer have the need for the much thicker armour.

Hope that helped :D
