Those are beautiful - and I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

I do have a question for you about them, though, as I've recently come to the conclusion that I need finger gauntlets to improve my own kit.

From the picture, it appears that the plates don't seem to wrap down far enough that they'll contact the stick on impact. Am I wrong in this? How much padding lies between the plates and your fingers?

Eventually I will use my 14th century harness again. My wife wanted to see me in this current harness and I love it and will fight in it often. With that said yesterday she said that she likes me better in my 14th century stuff, I replied I need finger gauntlets and a new helm she said "write the check!" Yes God has blessed me many times over but you really have to give thanks for having a wife who loves, understands, encourages deeds upon the field and the equipment required for ones station. Ah yes the things I do for love. She says I must buy armor and what must I do but comply.

Oh and Vitus blued mittens are fine for my Norman stuff as everything is wrong.

They were deemed the equivalent of hockey gloves. Further I have had about eight different sets of gauntlets since I have started fighting 16 years ago and by far they are the safest gauntlets I have ever had. I have taken repeated pole and great sword shots that I thought for sure were going to break my hands or fingers and nothing, no bruises, no stiffness, nothing. I never even padded them it was just the steel and the glove.

Those were fabulaopus gauntlets! I am sorry to hear some crass scoundrel stole them.. If I may ask, were they based on the Black Prince gaunts?

Who approved them for use without a basket? I have a not disimilar pair and want to get them inpsected for use.

Might check with Clay Moore, here is a set of gaunts he has for sale on Ebay

They are not in spring, but you could ask him. I highly recommend him (and his brother, Lewis, of course!)
