Gentles,

I would like to do a recruitment and school demo with the the intention of raising interest in a possible future SCA group in Livorno, Italy. While this process is still in the preliminary stages, we have an opportunity that could possibly make it worth our while for me to speed up the process.

The elementary school on the US instalation in Livorno is going to begin their medieval unit in about three weeks to a month. I have arranged for a local contact. The local contact has arranged for a school demo (if we want it) with mini trebuchets and music. There is some interest on a local level in the possiblility of maybe having a group there at some point in the future. I think that combining the school demo with a "this is the SCA" dinner/party could possibly result in a collection of folks who might possibly be interested in forming a group at some later date.

The end result I would like to see is a healthy shire or stronghold bridging the huge gap between the southern and northern Italian groups, possibly allowing good, meaningful inter group play. Located outside of Pisa, Livorno would be a great place to facilitate this. In addition, for those of you who might be single, the folks there are almost always attractive and tan.

The School Demo would give us a viable reason to be there, and possibly give us access to parents of kids interested in the middle ages. A dinner/party setting would give us a chance to meet these adults (with families) in an informal setting, and drive the message home.

A recent Mission/Revival trip to Austria was a huge success. We had a ton of fun, and got some great fighting in. That was pretty easy. There was a strong, well led, healthy group of good folks in Vienna. This is tougher, so I am asking for help. I would like to take at least one additional fighter, at least two fencers, and at least one artisan.

The possible proposed demo would be in three weeks to a month, and would involve (obviously) travel to Italy. I am currently searching for inexpensive and easy ways to get there.

Please help if it is at all possible.
