Give me a try

Post by Fenris Ulf »

I be a new armorer and I need to practice for a potential buyer.

I want to make a helm for someone preferably in the great helm style but would be willing to try something else out.

This was my first helm it sold for 180.00 US

please contact me and send me some ideas. as I progress I will send some pictures and tell me what you think, once completed we can talk about price but if you don't want the finished product its ok, but please be serious with this. I am wanting to practice but I need some incentive, let me know thanks :)

One like that in 14 G mild fitting a avg 23" head with room for 1/2 " padding would sell well I would think. It is a very good pembridge style. Classic. I would buy one. I fight steel in the Adrian Empire.
I saw this on ebay and saw it was not 14G so I did not bid. Alot of guys prob did the same. Plus I would want it blackened. That would be cool!

I agree with Stephan on pretty much every account.

I think your biggest market will be the SCA and you will want to make pretty much all your helms 14ga standard. That way people will feel safe using them.

The helm looks awsome you really nailed the style.

Do you have access to a welder or can you only do riveted helms?

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

About the 14 guage, Its probable, but I am not sure my shear will handle it. Its a hf sheat. 79.00 model but it works very well I think.

You have a good eye for armour making. Where are you located? How much does a shear cost to cut 14 G? Could you replenish the cost of a shear from the sale of a helm?

They will cut 14ga.

I am in stafford virginia, and if this will cut 14 gauge then I am all set, I just need to figure out how to cut that out of a 8 ' X 4' piece of steel heh, the 16 gauge one was tough enough

But I will offer this helm in 14 gauge right now if there are any takers
