My buddy and I are going to run a series of classes over the next few months to armour and equip a bunch of our wives/girlfriends and other non-fighters in our area as our crossbow squad. So somewhere in about August, we are going to need to buy about 15 crossbow prods. Anybody have any good recommendations about who sells good quality prods at a reasonable price?
We are kinda excited about this. Should make our fighting unit significantly stronger if we can get that many snipers.

Alchem will sell you prod and string at a reasonable price. Get your order in early.

Thanks Bart. That is exactly the type of thing I am looking for. I was trying to stay away from Alchem because of my perception of them as having a horrible turn around time and I don't quite trust that.
I am going to stay away from fiberglass rods or anything like that. I want actually metal prods.
Anybody have any other suppliers that they can recommend?

Yeah, I saw that thread about Alchem, too. I'd have to say that it doesn't square with my own experience buying parts from him, though I've never ordered one of his prods. The bow irons and stirrups I've ordered from him came to me in a timely manner.
You might want to give him an email and ask for an honest assessment of when he should be able to deliver.
Failing that, you could order in some 7075T651 and make your own. Takes a little bit of grinder work, and you need to get set up for making strings, but it is easily do-able for the heads-up home shop guy.
I'm off to war for the weekend now, but if you need help or advice in making your own, I am at your service.

I'd also try Darkwood Armory, I've seen them at estrella and pennsic with decent prods for around $30.... they don't have em on their site right now, but drop em a line or they may show up here....
cheers
