Horsehair Helmet Crests - Slots Avail

Post by Eyvandr »

I just wanted to let those who have thought about getting a crest, my que is currently empty and I have availability to take on two commissions at this time.

If there is any interest please contact me directly via a pm or e-mail. I can be reached at eyvandr@westernspartans.com

I am going to try to upload a few more photos to my gallery of some of my newer pieces, but many can be found at:

http://www.westernspartans.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=97&g2_page=4

Let me know how I can put that final touch on that early period helm.

That was an interesting crest to build. Its got a T-6 core to it, to raise it off the helmet. It was built for Duke Dirk down in Caid and held up fairly well. It was a neat project to work on, and I have some great ideas how I would improve that design if I had to do another one. Overall I too agree it "Freaking Rocks!" 8)

I have a early/mid 2nd century Roman legionnaire persona, what would one run for something period approximately. I understand you can't give exacts....or maybe you can, but I am curious. Thank you.

I have done then for norse helmets. I will see if I can get a better photo of the boar crest for Duke Thorfinn's helmet.

I have some but none of them are great shots. * FOUND ONE *

Marcus from what I understand, both front to back, and transverse crests were present with Roman legionnaire's. I have done 2 crests for Attic style helms, and one for a preatorian very recently.

Im sure there are are a few present that know far more about the roman era then I do.

Here's a shot of Thorfinn with his boar crest from a few years ago.

What would one cost...just a ball park amount? I know you don't have specifics but a rough amount would let me know if was feasible or not for me. Thank you.

Between 250-350 + shipping, depending on the colors for the horsehair. Extra special tooling runs a little more.
