Does anyone have a supplier for a good thread for leather that I can get in bulk? Somewhere in the range over 8oz spools. I'm having no luck. I can get it in the 8oz and lower all day long. Thanks

Gavin,
Try looking for shoe patching machine linen thread. You can get it both waxed and unwaxed in 6lb rolls, sometimes. The Leather Factory/Tandy used to have 2 lb rolls of art. Sinew in stock under Indian/Native American Lore. I will check with a friend and see if he has any he is willing to part with, since he is no longer doing leather work.

Hello, did you contact me before? If you are looking for thread for a machine as opposed to hand stiching thread try TheThreadExchange.com. That is where I get the thread for my harness sewing machine. If they do not have what you want they may know where to get it.

Torvaldr- yes that was me. I am doing hand stitching. I had a large, I think at least 2lb, roll of waxed. But, it has grown legs.

Thanks

The thread exchange does have waxed thread, I am not sure though in what size rolls.

this may be helpful, maybe not, have you tried seine twine, it is a twine they use on traditional ships, a nylon coated with tarr, really good stuff, try memphis net and twine or a local chandlery if you have one. it comes in varying amount rolls and varying thicknesses

another option is contact Linda Steffan at Steffanleather.com, I have purchased all varieties and colors of waxed linen thread from her in the past in all different size rolls.

if you go to Pennsic she is there selling every year.

hope that helps
