Could someone tell me what the most sought after Lamella plates are and the specs? I have a Nephew in law who has just purchased a plasma cutter and wants to make and sell them if it would be profitable. He has been doing a little custom Bike fabricating and needs to have something else to help keep his shop going. If anyone could give a few hints of something that would sell good here let me know and I'll pass it on to him.

Plasma cutter or CNC plasma cutter? It makes a difference.

If he can CNC according to CAD files I may have some work I could send him. If he can plasma cut by tracing cardboard I may also have some stuff I could send him but not much.

If he wants to rip sheets into tiny identical squares he's going to find that presses make a more economical solution for lamelar.

I think it was "Armor from the battle of Wisby" that had a picture showing different lamellar plates and their rough dimensions. I'm sure someone around here has a scan of it.

PLEASE remember to tell your nephew to take everything as references and make his own Specific shape. Unless he has permission from the creator to "Copy For Commercial Reproduction". Even if he has to change the width and heighth by an 1/4 to 3/8 of one he really likes... It will save legal and reputation problems.

The creator that made the original plates? Like several hundred years ago? Or are you talking reproducing modern lamellar?

Hell, I got cad files of several types... If he wants them let me know.

Hello all and thanks too you all for the feedback. Yes, his cutter is CNC and we would love to have ANY and all the patterns that would be okay for him to use.

Chad is trying to get set up to do custom bikes and would appreciate any work that would help him get started. I have seen some custom bike parts he is making and I think some of you bikers would be interested in checking with him. He hasn't got a web page yet but he's working on it.

Sorry mate, migraine issues lately, I'll get it to you, promise.

This is the shape I was talking about and the hole pattern as well. From what I can tell it's a lot more mongolian than the other stuff commercially available. Find out if he'd be into doing these and I'll get the dimensions.

David- What forn do you want them, in? I can do DWG, DXF, or anything else that autocad 2K can do.

I'm not that computer literate, so I'm not understanding what you mean.

well drawings done on comupter are usually doen with a drafting program like AutoCAD or ProE, or what not. Those drawings are saved as computer files, in a varirty of formats, like DWG, DXF, ETC. Your brothers machine will likely prefer one or the other.
