Who do you go to for your soapstone or stoneware needs? In stock (instead of custom) so my girlfriend and I can peruse styles would be great.

What are you looking for?
I've got a friend who does 14th cent. germany pottery. He might have what you are looking for in stock or he can do custom.
As for soapstone, good luck. I use it for pewter casting.

Hey Jeff,

We're more wishbooking than anything else--Kristen's been wanting new table and drinkware for awhile. So, either mid-14th cent. Silesian (Polish or Bohemian basically)--Kristen's time period, or c. 1200 Rus--my time period.

The helm--well, what I got done turned out OK--everything just took longer than I thought it would so I didn't get to finish everything I wanted to. The rust converter didn't leave an attractive finish, so I spent a solid 8 hours standing over the grill w/ the helmet, a mapp gas torch, a couple of rags, and a bottle of oil. Got the vervelles all attached--that was a bit of a pain--and the aventaille stitched to it's strap. Jim's going to go back and finish trimming the aventaille and Mom's going to stitch up the helm liner--so it definitely turned into a group project. Didn't end up quite the way I wanted, but it's world's better than when we started.

uually you can find them at Gulf Wars and at Pensic,
not sure if they are on-line.
I have bought from them for years and give them my highest
recommendation across the board.
They usually set up around where Mandrake Armory is at Pensic
and pretty close to Rennascance Art and Design at Gulf Wars.

Yes you should know him, the potter is Bjorn. Next time you are down here call him and check out his stuff. He told me that the period of his pieces is 600 to 1700 ad.

great stuff.

The site only has the fantasy stuff up. HOWEVER, Olga (stephanie Howe) is a potter in the group and does some really great stoneware as well as period mugs, etc.

Definately worth dropping a line to, if you are shopping around.
