Looking for Lorica Hamata

Hi folks, have not convinced myself I want to purchace this yet, but figured I would do the leg work now.
Anyone know of anyone who makes this? Doesnt need to be stainless, but at least needs to be riveted.
I would be using it for SCA combat, if I got it.
Thanks for any help.

I bought a bunch of Museum Replicas riveted (2 shirts + 1 sleeveless vest)with the idea of making a lorica hamata with the shoulder doubling---but haven't done it yet. I could make you a good deal on any or all of this riveted stuff. Let me know if you have any interest and I can supply more details. Heck, you could come over (to Squirrel Hill) and look at them or I could meet you at fighter's practice if you like.
Cheers,
Tim

Remember that if you want to be truely authentic Roman mail generally overlaps the opposite way from medieval mail.

Interesting tidbit, Doug, but I seriously doubt the rules for SCA combat armour have become stringent enough to mention that particular detail.
LOL

Though that is a very interesting tidbit I did not know.
Tim, when you say vest, are you basically talking about a regular shirt, but with no sleeves?
What got me interested in this again, was sitting down last night, and starting from the beginning and watching Rome again, since the new season starts next Sunday.
Not sure any of your stuff would fit me though. I am pretty much a cylinder right now. 50" chest, 50" waist.
Granted, have gotten off my ass and have started working out again, plus started eating better, so will actually lose pretty quick, but still not sure if any of it would fit me.

Nope, my stuff would be too tight for you. Sorry.

Lol, thats what I thought.
Maybe I will just buy a kit and make it myself. Could be a nice project.

Syr Finn,
I sold one of our locals a butted shirt off ebay for $100, he cut the extra length off the sleeves and bottom and used it for the shoulders. Little time with snips and sewing some leather on and it looks good. He uses it mostly for boffer but it has seen rattan both when I owed it and since he's finished it. It will require some work to set up, to keep up and will weigh a little more but it's about a quarter or fifth of the price.
coming to Ice Dragon?? I want to play with your gauntlets!

Yeah, unless work throws in a snafu, I will be at Ice Dragon. Will probably have to do some work from the hotel if I come up Friday night, but should be good, as long as our software upgrade doesnt go boom.
Yeah, was actually thinking of doing that with the shirt I got already. The sleeves go just below my elbows, and if I really wanted to do a Hamata, they really didnt have sleeves, so could easily have enough material right there for the shoulder piece.
Still debating on it. From some of the stuff I have looked up, the kind of shirt I have now, could of been used for late roman anyways.

I'll send Allister an email and if he's coming to ID I'll ask him to throw his in the car, you can see how he did it and he'll share what he should have done differently.
