I like von Sussen's prices but have heard that the durability for SCA combat might be a bit lacking. Regardless, his stock sizes don't fit me and he has yet to answer my email regarding custom sizing.

I've heard good things about Forth but the prices are steeper and according to the site, everything is out of stock and orders are not being taken.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

It doesn'y get much more reasonably priced than Sussen or King's Lance. What size do you need?

BTW, I have fought in maille from both, and it held up fine.

My measurements are at the house but basically 3xl sized most probably on the tall side which von Sussen doesn't come close to in their standard sizes. I'll check with King's Lance.

I emaild Forth several days ago and have heard nothing back from them. Also unless I am very much mistaken it would cost more to purchase the pieces from him and put it together myself than to just have him make it for me.

Also

Does anyone know of a reasonable retailer for flat rings that I can put together myself instead of paying someone else to have all the fun. I have looked at The Ring Lord and several other sites and couldn't find anything except at Forth.

I did some looking around and found a few Indian places that sold mail and rings. I bookmarked a couple of them at the office, I'll post them tomorrow.

I have had several good deals with http://finditarmory.com/

even their flat ring stuff is under $500 (in most cases under $400)

I have handled it and its nice IMO

They are fat man friendly too!

Von Seussen holds up fairly well.

My rig was used when I got it in the summer of 2005.

I have used it constantly. I wore the coating off, and now it shows a little rust.

I have some moth holes now, but I think I easily got my money's worth.

I got my shirt from VS and it's held up great, so far. Also I'm 6'9'' and 290lbs and his biggest shirt nicely fits.

You've got me my a couple of inches in height but I outweigh you. If I put his large size on I would squirt through the rings like cookie dough.
