Breakdown spears? Does anyone in the world sell these? Why do you call it poltruded fiberglass?

any poltruded fibergblass shaft can be made into a break down spear, you just need a solid fiberglass plug to make the splice. I used to be able to get the plugs at the local plubing supply house in painesville, if you need one I can check there and see if they still have em.

We used to sell them, but ran into trouble getting the right fiberglass insert material.
Johnathon, if you find a source for something that works, let me know.

I would love to have one - if I were to check my own local plumbing store what would they know this piece of hardware as?

The inserts we were using were pultruded to the OD of the ID of the spear shaft. If there is any slop it significantly reduces the life of the spear. We got it in 10 foot lengths and cut it to size, but the supplier changed the minimum order to a lifetime supply.

ok, so it was a quantity issue, I can see that one. the place I was getting the slugs from is a general contractor supplier, they had some solid fiberglass that I happened to spy as I was checking out some copper tubing when I was making pipes for a friends birthday present (a portative organ) I'll try to run out there next week and see if they have any more, I think I had a four foot section at one time, not sure what they are really used for but I'll ask em when I get there and let you know
