Eff - Got some free time?

Post by Ziad »

:D

I have forgotten what I asked for! I think I wanted to go ahead and upgrade to package C; and I mentioned torse, helm, crest, and mantling - though we will have to confer on specifics, of course...

And I was going to get a couple of mugs, one of the tile boxes, and... oh, yeah, I wanted to discuss polo shirts.

There might have been something else, I can't recall - it should be in my message.

Thanks!!!

Mugs?

We can get mugs!

Hmmmm, Eff made me an AWESOME Japanese Kamon, and that would be sweet as a gift for the wife (the Kohi-aholic) for her at work (a Japanese company).

MUGS!!

Hmmm.... bookplates, maybe...

Just a quick question - what references do you have handy? I have Fox-Davies, the Oxford Guide (Woodcock and Robinson), and three or four lesser works. If I come across something, I would like to be able to point it out to you.

Got yer e-mule, working on a reply.

Thanks - this is going to be Fun!

I have a rather huge heraldic library -- comes with 30 years a book herald. Oddly, my Bouttel's and Fox-Davies have both walked off, but I have a PDF of "Art of Heraldry" though.

Over the long time of doing this, I've built up a library of images of these things, so I tend to use those books as "general guidelines" rather than masters to be copied line for line.

Oh, yah - didn't want to just say "take this mantle, this torse... " Just some general ideas.

Do you have a good rendering of an heraldic magpie? I have toyed with the idea of an orle of seven magpies as a badge... :)

Y'know, I live up in Glimburnie (that is how they pronounce it) but I work in Springfield - we could get together for lunch some time to discuss this.

Just a thought.

Dang, I must be loosing it, Halv.

Can you refresh my memory? (Or, rather, please try to refresh my memory while I reload the caffeine delivery system...)

Does it involve a goose, or am I thinking something else?

What? There was a helm crest and mantling option?!? Where was the helm, crest and mantling option listed? Why did no-one TELL me there was a helm, crest and mantling option?!?! Next thing you are going to tell me is that there was an option for supporters too!!

Ack! Twitch!

Hey Effingham, how much to take to take my new heraldry and do it up with:

Great Bascinet with Rene style kloben-tourney visor; Torse in blue with white Fleur-de-lys; Mantle in blue with white Fleur-de-lys and a gold chevron and a crest of either a griffon head or better yet, griffon from the waist up, arms extended. (I think I saw something similar in Fox/Davis recently)

How much extra to add in 2 greyhound supporters, black fur with white bellies and throats, and possibly some greenery at the bottom?

I would be using for business-cards and letter-head. Possibly for a mug or 2.

Thanks,
Sean

Well, yeah, I mention "full achievements" several times on the avatar page. ;)

Maybe I should be more obvious with it and design the page up some more...

Heh. :)

You do realize that something like that would be virtually invisible beyond the largest sizes, right?

Well I usually quote achievements at 30-50 buckeroos. You are talking toward the high end of my level of tolerance for squiggy detail. ;)

Well if you did I think you would get more people opting in. I had to review it twice before realizing that achievements = helm & crest... OK I'm slow some times.

You think YOU have it tough. Let me re-tell the story of how I showed the new device to my wife:

"Hey wonderful wife of mine, If I register new heraldry will you embroider it on a surcoat for me?"
"Sure, why"
"Good because I just registered a device with multiple fleur-de-dys in a fur like background and multiple animal heads..."
"You BASTARD!"
"Yeah, and I was thinking about the metalic gold thread that is a bitch to run through your embroidery sewing machine too..."

I can skip the greyhound supporters although they would look sweet as leterhead. See if you have anything useful for the helm and crest. I can down-grade the torse and mantling to just blue if that is necessary. I would like this to show up on a business card. That's maybe 1.75" high to leave 1/8" of edge around the card.

You have far better artistic ability then me so I leave you freedom to decided what detail is visible at that size.

The greyhounds wouldn't be the prob (in fact, they're fine). I was thinking about the powdered charges on the mantling.

There's a reason we generally turn mantling into livery -- main color and main metal. ;)

But shoot me an e-mail, and I'll play with some designs.

Halv-- yeah, I remember now. I had trouble trying to find a falcon that I like, but I'm afraid the ones that work best are the ones you pointed me to. I'll have something for you tonight. :)

I thought I'd responded to that one.

Sure, it's different from what I usually do. I can't guarantee anything, but shoot me some examples of what you're thinking of. :)
