Sorry guys but I had to do it. These are the exact size of my hand and I was about to start a set myself in 18ga. Stainless when this hit. Add to it that the VA finally made a disability desicion in my favor this was my treat to myself and to a more accurate portrayal of my Irish auxilary to the post-roman Britans at Bardon hill. Sorry to those I bumped but sometimes you just have to jump when the oppertunity is there. That and it was to help out a fellow archiver so he did not lose out on his investment.

Nah, I like them to much to sell them, seeing I have had them for less than a month. I know they are not period for my roman kit but damn they look good and came with matching blued finger bucklers. Of course if I got offered the same as what these went for I might change my mind. Just in case there is someone interested here is a link to a pic of them, they are on the left with the bucklers.

thats it putem up and let the games begin I have capital on hand and besides it's good times to cut throat by .01 to .50 on each post oh and while I am thinking about it the guy tossing in .75 cents needs to go ahead and send it so the final sale price should reflect 800.75

Don't you already have like 5 pairs of guants if I remember from another thread. If I can get around 800 I would sell them and than be able to get my car registered and fixed as I blew the water pump on it last week.

Plus people stopped bidding at what $675. :)

Very true, and thanks for pointing that out.

I wasn't out to be greedy, I was only interested in getting back as much of what I spent as I could, and I even paid for shipping.

Sent today via US Parcel Post and should arrive by April 2nd...

Lol, I always send USPS priority, and have never lost anything. Cant say the same for UPS.

I trust USPS a lot more, than UPS.

Guess its own personal dealings, but I have never gotten beat up packages from USPS, like I have from UPS, and scared to open the darn thing up.

Sunflash didn't sound like he was interested in my offer though I am more than willing to stick to my offer if he will stick to my terms.

Well since I am in Alaska it would be tough to do too much drooling but if I make it down to Estrella again next year look me up and I will let you drool with no $0.75 needed. Heck I'll even throw in a beer and some armor talk for free! That and anytime you want to come up to Alaska let me know.

Daithi' (who really needs to change my site name)

Daithi', I knew that Sunflash wasn't your preferred name but it was the one whose spelling I was sure of without hitting back and looking to one of your posts. My appologies for the laziness. I hope you do make it back for Estrella. I saw you a couple of times but never when it was too convenient to talk to you. Once was after Grand Court, you were in a conversation. The second was Sunday evening. I had just finished packing camp and was waiting for my wife to get back to site to get the second truckload, you were on the back of a golfcart being driven by His Excellency, Mons Tonitrus, Baron Charles. I started to stop him so I could give a quick hello but didn't. As to me getting up into your part of the world, I'm not sure where you are but my company has an office in Anchorage. It is not out of the question that I will be up there at some point. I'll be sure to bring my armor though I may have to borrow a stick and shield.

I too hope to make it back next year and am sorry we were not able to meet. As an aside no conversation is to import to meet a fellow archiver. As for Anchorage it is a six hour drive but if you give me notice I will make sure to be there. I would imagine that if you let me know your preference of shield type and size as well as prefered sword lenght and type (basket or hilt, as well as curved or straight, weight, etc.) I could make sure that was ready as well. I am in central Alaska up in Fairbanks so if for some reason you need to make it that far North let me know as well. Heck any where in Alaska and I will make sure I cen get there and that if you need anything you are taken care of.

Well, the deal fell thru as they were not big enough for someone with huge hands. So anyone with center finger being 4 1/4 from knuckle to tip and almost 4 inches at the knuckles here you go.

Is that 4.25" measured along the top of the middle finger, and 4" along the back of the knuckles?

Are they springsteel, and whatare you asking for them?

Posted: Mon Mar 24, 2008 4:42 pm
by Ld Ragnar MacHardy
yes that is were I measured them and I am not sure if they are mild or spring steel and i was trying to get $800, that was the only reason I would sell them for.

There is a big enough difference between the two that you might want to find out. Spring steel can command a much higher price than mild steel.

Do those ground to Rattan, and are those ones that Whonew made?

Not trying to bust a bubble, but main reason DarkHearts go for $800 is cause they ground to rattan and also are made of springsteel.

CelticWarriors which were stainless or mild, were $400 or less, due to not grounding to rattan and were not springsteel. I thought Whonew, whos those gauntlets look like were made by, cause I almost got a pair, I thought were selling for about same, the $400 range.

Just stating why Darkheart gets what he gets for his, where Whonew and CelticWarrior and even Saint Martins, who make springsteel, but none of the above ground to rattan, all go for usually around $400.

Even you get $800 for those great, just stating why you might not.

Dont mean to offend, just thought I would state the reasons why I see Darkhearts go for $800, but the rest dont usually go over $500. The Grounding to rattan is a biggie. Or if they are severly tripped out, like Leo's fingers gauntlets were.

Well that is why I had stated earlier that i would sell them if I could get that kind of money so I could fix and register my car and if they would have fit I would had them sold. I was not really interested in selling them as I do love them and they fit rather well to the rattan and are blued, just that they were not accurate to my roman kit, but being blued they hide rather well.
