BIG SALE! Variety of armour, pic heavy (some prices reduced)

Having some car trouble so its time for another clear out. Same as usual, some of this is old sock, some prototypes, some trade ins or projects with slight flaws.

First up, my personal legs. Nice and fancy (not period). I made these years ago when I first started making armour. They are comfortable and move great. I actually went to an earlier kit and still used these under pants because of how comfortable and used to them I got. I figure there is no sense covering them up. They are all 16ga stainless with some 18ga ss and solid brass. I used these for almost 5 years now and not so much as a dent. They certainly show my inexperience at making armour at the time however and have some mistakes. The wrap plate is not lined up perfect with the cuisse.

I used a "small" cop. I may have tweaked the cop shape slightly since making the ones I am selling so the following sizes may be out an 1/8". Also, the following are the sizes of the cop only, but should give you an idea of near exact sizes.

SM:
Semi circ: 11.5"
middle height: 4"
side/point height: 2.5"
width of opening (point to point): 5.5"
approx overall depth: 4.5"
Approx dish depth: 1"

Ok, I'll take that set of elbows. Just PM me the details on how you do payment/shipping etc.

For clarification's sake, I'm talking about the pair of articulated fanless, $20 smalls.

Also - I saw in your picture album that you have the same type of things in knees. Do you have any of those about/ how much would they cost?

I'll take the aged leather elbows, they make good "this doesn't exist, move along" armor. Don't know if they've been taken already, I think people are only talking about the Gothic stuff.

PM's sent to everyone. Ewan, just awaiting payment on the maille, I will keep you posted if it becomes available.

Did you make the aluminum kidney rigs or is that someone else's work? Unfortunately I'm a little too big for the ones you listed.

I did make them. I am more than willing to make custom sets. But I have stopped taking orders since the car died. I will resume taking orders when I get this car back up and running which I hope will be soon. So send your friends to this post :P

I used 50 series on these. Hal did a test on a pair of cops I sent him in comparison to the exact same ones in steel and the results showed that when worked this alum is at least twice as strong. I have a few local guys using these bosses and they are doing fine. However, this boss is deeper than normal, and may be a bit weaker than one in a slightly shallower dish depth. I think I have one in stock currently in a brushed finish available? If not I will fully guarantee this one and if you notice any denting under normal circumstances I will refund the cost and cover the shipping.

Niall,

I fight in a slightly customized version of this stealth rig (mine has a "Do" style breastplate added) and it is not only super comfortable and strong, but it can be lifted easily with one finger.

Damon rocks...

Now I need money to ask him to make me some gothic stuff... :)

My guess would be $16. these fold up and fit in a very small box, Fully insured.

Yojimbo wrote:How many aluminum bosses did you have? Are there any still available?

I only have the one with the preset handle in stock. It was one of 2 prototypes I did. I am pretty sure I have a box of various bosses. Is it the alum boss that interests you most or the combination of the handle? I will have to check stock and see what I have. I may have one deep enough for another preset handle if interested?

well, its kind of a controversial opinion, lol. I don't like the coverage they provide when the arm is bent closed, or completely straight (depends on how deep the elbow dish is.)

How wide are the clamshell Gaunts, and are they deep enough to bottom out on a weapon (i.e. would they be SCA legal)? Definitely interested if they're legal and they'd fit.

It would depend on big your hands are and what you wear under them, that was the problem with the original owner, he had medium sized hands and these are a smaller size. As for legal for the SCA yes, definitely. As far as I know as long as there padded they actually don't have to bridge (someone correct me if I am wrong), I would not suggest using them if they don't, but they will meet the standards.

Ok,

The gaunts...

finger opening width is 4.5"
knukle opening width 4 7/8"
Depth from rattan to inside gaunt (bridging space?) when flat and straight 1.5" when bent around sword, 2".

I have a medium size hand and with full padding in these I think it would push the gaunt up far enough that it may gap a little and no longer bridge. In saying that, the gaunt would definitely bottom out on the rattan long before transferring direct force to my fingers. I prefer gaunts that are snug, but also ALWAYS bridge, in my opinion. I would not wear them with my hand size. I think these would need a small hand to be completely bridged at all times.
