Roman manica

Has anyone made or know of an armorer that has done a roman(either gladiatorial or legionnaire) roman style manica? It may not be SCA legal, but it is an interesting piece.
FAMILIA GLADIATORIA is the source of the picture -

It looks like they've pulled off a full coverage manica that I have not seen recreated until now...

Here is Matt Amt's take on the Manica. You will also find some links at the end of the page. The biggest problem I've seen with any Manica I've seen, none seem to allow for much more than a 90 degree elbow bend.

Thanks.
I wonder how Famila Gladiatoria pulled it off. Looking at the pictures they seem to have a full segmented metal sleeve. There may not be much elbow flex room, but enough flexibility to allow one to fight in.

My guess is they just don't bend the elbow much! In the picture above nobody has a elbow bend more than 90 degrees. The origanals seem to have had much narrower plates that allowed more bend. One of the Matt Amt links included an x-ray of a manica found in Carlyle. Those plates are far narrower than those in the FAMILIA GLADIATORIA photo.

That is the issue I had when I first attempted to make Manica is that my bands were to wide. This time around I making mine out of 410, .032 thickness, and 1.25 inch wide bands. I am going to use a standard low profile elbow cop out of spring just to appease the marshals. I haven't decided to add more lames past the elbow but more than likely. I will hopefully be working on it next month.

I love the guy on the left "SERIOUSLY WHERE THE FUCK ARE MY PANTS"
That armor is really cool looking. A whole suit of it would make you look a robot from the 50s.

I would like to attempt this experimental project. Any armorers willing to try a segmented armguard?

Deepeka makes one, no idea of the quality, but for $65, it would make a good starting point/scrap metal.

Thanks, but I bought one last year.
It was ok, but not great. I ended up selling it. What I had in mind would have to be custom made.

If you find someone willing, please tell me, I'm interested.

I use one made of brass.. works great! Fully articulated.. roll 'em up like an armadillo!
We'll be equiping the unit this year with manica, greaves and feminica (manica for the thigh, proposed by Robinson, now disputed,) but ever since we made 'em for SCA use they've done their job! RE: crupellarius
