Leather supply

I'm curious of any good leather suppliers, right now just for simple leather straps of good quality. I know I can do better than Tandy, and there are some sites online that specialize in leather, but I wanted to run it by the archivers first to see if anyone specializes in that.

I'd rather give my business to the little guy/gal(no offense). :D

Try these guys. I have bought from them and the quality was very good.

Check with Ld Ragnar McHardy here on the archive.

I can also recommend Siegel of California.
Springfield Leather comes highly recommended but I have not yet dealt with them myself.

Weaver Leather and Hidehouse are both wholesale only sources with good quality. Weaver will even cut your straps and finish the edges at a price that makes it hard for any "commercial" leatherworker to justify doing their own straps ;)

Many people have reported good results with Brettun Leather. I've never found them to be offering anything I was interested in - what they have in stock seems to vary quite a bit and it's hit or miss whether they will have what you want.

horse butt, and get a strap cuter. best straps ever, if you can get over using horse flesh.

I have used springfieldleather.com several times. I usually have their website up and then call them and talk to them about what I am trying to do and order the leather over the phone. I have always been very happy with their product, timelyness of shipping and prices.

I need a strap cuter  All of mine come out really homely :P

Good suggestion though. Horse butts make very sturdy and non stretchy straps and belts.

Did you check the Weaver leather site about their tools? They got some real steardy cutters that I would like to get.
